Develops statistical evaluation and sampling techniques for autonomous driving safety.

• •Waymo's Release Evaluation org ensures the safety of the Waymo Driver before deployment.
• •This role focuses on developing automated pipelines to identify rare and exceptional scenarios in autonomous driving.
• •Key Responsibilities Develop importance sampling techniques to improve evaluation pipeline efficiency.
• •Identify signals in logs and simulations for efficient discovery of rare events.
• •Build systems to optimize multiple objectives under resource constraints.
• •Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver evaluation products and drive data-driven decisions.
• •Champion code health and best practices.
• •Requirements BS in Computer Science, Robotics, Statistics, Physics, Math, or a quantitative area.
• •Fluency with probability and statistics.
• •Strong self-motivation for complex, open-ended problems. 2-3 years of experience with large code bases (C++, Python, SQL), statistical analysis, data processing pipelines, and code quality standards.
